What is Behavioral Authentication?
Behavioral authentication is an authentication mechanism that uses a person's unique movement characteristics to determine whether to grant access or not.
Examples of behavioral authentication are analyzing a person's handwriting, analyzing a person's typing pattern/speed, finger pressure, signature, voice, gestures, walking speed, and swiping characteristics.
Behavioral authentication is not the same as continuous authentication - they are independent of each other. A behavioral authentication solution may use pattern detection to log the user in but may not necessarily continue to authenticate the user's behavioral biometrics. One disadvantage of behavioral biometrics is that the more dynamic the requirements (e.g. the typing speed must always be the same), then the user is prone to unintended locking based on false-positive biometric readings.
